Wedding and festive outfits are expensive and emotional. A little care before and after each wear keeps them ready for the next celebration.
Before the event
Steam or press well in advance, check for loose stones and threads, and avoid spraying perfume directly on the fabric. Perfume stains and weakens delicate materials.
After the event
Get it cleaned soon. Sweat, food splashes and perfume left in the fibres cause yellowing and weakened fabric, and they attract moths. Dry clean heavy, silk or embellished outfits rather than washing at home.
Storage
- Use breathable cotton or muslin bags, not plastic.
- Fold heavy lehengas flat with tissue between layers rather than hanging them for long.
- Hang sherwanis and jackets on wide, padded hangers.
- Place silica gel or neem leaves nearby and check the outfit every few months.
Quick repairs
Reattach loose stones or threads before cleaning, or point them out when you drop the outfit off so we can handle it carefully.

Frequently asked questions
How soon after a wedding should I dry clean my outfit?
As soon as practical, ideally within a few days. Sweat and perfume left in the fabric can cause lasting damage.
Can I store a lehenga on a hanger?
Not for long. The weight stretches the fabric. Fold it flat with tissue and keep it in a cotton cover.
